Fairfax County Announces Budget Timeline
Fairfax County Executive Anthony H. Griffin will present his proposed fisca plan for FY 2008 to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on Monday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. during the regularly scheduled board meeting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in the Board Auditorium of the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax. The meeting will be shown live on Fairfax County Government Channel 16, which is also video streamed live at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/cable.
Staff from the Department of Management and Budget will be available to speak to civic organizations, homeowners associations and community groups regarding the proposed fiscal plan for 2008. Channel 16 will repeat the county executive's presentation on Friday, March 2, at 9 p.m. and Monday, March 5, at 9 p.m. It also can be viewed as part of the Board of Supervisors meeting replays on Tuesday, Feb. 27, beginning at 8 p.m., and Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m. It will be available as video-on-demand on the county's Web site at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/cable throughout the month of March.
Public hearings on the FY 2008 fiscal plan have been set for April 9, 10 and 11, at 7 p.m. with the School Board presentation to the Board of Supervisors scheduled on April 10 at 6 p.m. Those wishing to speak at any of the public hearings should contact the Office of the Clerk to the Board at 703-324-3151, TTY 703-324-3903, to place their names on the speakers list or sign up online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/gov/bos/speaker_bos.htm All of the board's public hearings will be held in the Board Auditorium of the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, and will be televised live on Fairfax County Government Channel 16.
Budget markup is scheduled for Monday, April 23, at 10 a.m. The formal adoption of the budget is scheduled to take place on Monday, April 30, at 10 a.m. during the regularly scheduled board meeting.
